I've just peeled three slices off of my frozen kilo of special-order German bacon. It's thawing very slowly in the saucepan on low heat. Oh god it already smells so good.

+ In goes: half an onion. One of the brand-new fresh-grown local ones I got at Produce Tuesday at the supermarket. Possibly too much? Possibly not. OH HEY ALMOST FORGOT the garlic.

There is a lot of beef, in this here beef n' fried ramen. And kimchi, too! Good for the iron count. Which it appears I've been lacking.

I just fried everything for dinner tonight. In a great big pan. With nabe broth.

It was ALMOST nabe? Only, it ended up just being fried delicious.

Even weird schlicky sticky potatoes are good fried. ♥

Also? I didn't even get out of my pjs today. Oh, SATURDAY. I needed a day like this after week o' sinus trouble and migraines.

Gonna hit 10k

Today things worked out like BURNING AWESOME. I kept four separate classes of 24+ 7th and 8th graders not only occupied but INTERESTED, 50m each, this was the school everybody warned me about. Food is expensive, but life is okay anyway. Tofu-flavored candy is bizarre and weird. I have lots of snacks and lots of breakfast and lots of dinner, and just reserved next morning's rice so I can have more of same for all of the above. Today we went around a mountain, and then went straight over it to get back.

And then we made donburi with fried tofu in that sugar-shoyu-mirin sauce.

And now we have air conditioning.

Life is really, really good, you guys. Life is so good.
